Hello. My name is Megan Skaggs. I just recently started a local gift bag project called MJ's Memories, through a group called Project Sweet Peas. We seek to provide comfort to parents with
children in the intensive care units. Our goal is simple; to provide gift bags that give a touch of comfort to someone in need, to let them know that they are not alone.Project Sweet Pea is simply a group of moms who have had children in intensive care units, and want to help other families who are going through the same. We want to provide comfort through this hard time, by providing gift bags that give a little touch of comfort. We have come together with other families around the United States to create many local projects around the country.

I started this project in memory of my son, Michael Joseph, who we called MJ. MJ was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, or CDH. CDH occurs when the diaphragm does not fully close, allowing stomach organs into the chest cavity, hindering lung and heart development. MJ lived for 35 days and fought for every one of them. I know what it is like to feel totally helpless and alone when your baby is in the NICU, having a gift bag like this would have made a world of a difference. That is why I started MJ's Memories - so people can know that they are not alone.

I will be donating these bags locally to Stormont Vail's NICU and to Children's Mercy in Kansas City. I am in need of the following items:

Blankets
Disposable Cameras
Birth Record Pillows
Lip Balm
Journals
Pens
Hand Sanitizer
Baby hats
Booties
Eye Covers
Scratch Mittens
Tissue Pack
Children's Book
Puzzle Books
Stuffed Animal
Picture Frames
Baby Brush/Comb
Gift Cards
Grocery and Gas Gift Cards ( for parents who have to drive a long way, and for parents who lost their job due to staying a long time in the hospitals )
Travel Size: lotion, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes for parents staying in the Ronald McDonald House.

Also, we are in need of office supplies, such as printer ink and paper, so we can print out brochures for hospitals and families.

If you can help us with these donations, please email me at megan@projectsweetpeas.com . You can also go to www.projectsweetpeas.com for more information and to take a look at the other local gift bag projects around the United States. Thank you and God Bless!

Megan
